An International Board Certified Lactation Consultant\u00ae (IBCLC\u00ae) is a health care professional who specializes in the clinical management of breastfeeding. An IBCLC is certified by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners\u00ae<\/a>, Inc. under the direction of the US National Commission for Certifying Agencies. An IBCLC works in a wide variety of health care settings, including hospitals, pediatric offices, public health clinics, and private practice.<\/p>\n You can read more about IBCLCs here.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t In March of 2010 the Affordable Care Act <\/a>was signed into law, requiring insurance companies to cover preventative care for women, including lactation support. Your insurance should cover the cost of my services, but each insurance company differs in their reqirements and process of coverage. I encourage you to contact your insurance provider to ask if lactation services are covered. Most insurance reimburse. Due to the complex process<\/a> that can sometimes be involved, I require payment for my services up front, in either cash, check, or credit card. I will provide you with a detailed receipt for you to submit to your insurance for reimbursement. I am in network with Aetna and Unicare, and can bill them directly.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t IBCLCs are trained and qualified to help with any difficulties with breastfeeding, including (but not limited to):<\/p>\n Your consult will be personalized to your needs and goals, whatever they may be.
